EIGHT MAIN STREET ASSOCIATES/ TEABERRY’S TEA ROOM 2 Main Street Flemington By: Sherry Kevoe What do Eight Main Street Associates and Teaberry’s Tea Room in Flemington, N.J. have in common? Well, here’s the scoop… brother’s Bob and Fred Ferrari own Eight Main Street Associates. Fred has rental offices available in this beautiful modernized building in a prime location on Main Street. He is enthusiastic about the re-develop- ment and revitalization of Down- town Flemington and is especially proud of one of the most beautiful projects in Flemington. Owned by the Ferrari brothers is the well-known Teaberry’s Tea Room. Previously located in its orig- inal location since 2005, also on Main Street, Teaberry’s outgrew their space and moved to their cur- rent location in 2009 on 2 Main Street. This beautiful Victorian home was built in 1822 and is one of the oldest homes in Flemington. Every room in the home is used with seat- ing for 100. Susan Peterson, owner, was inspired by her English grandmother who loved tea and was a wonderful baker. She always took time in her busy day to relax, reflect and enjoy tea. According to Susan, her grand- mother, Edith, was calm, organized and never frazzled. Once you meet Susan you will feel the same way. During our interview, Susan was relaxed and focused making me feel like I was the only one in the tea- house. In the meantime, her employ- ees were busy working throughout the house and attending to many customers being served. Susan even took that extra few seconds to say hello to many familiar faces who were obviously repeat customers. Susan and her daughter Sara, who each manage an area of the house, maintain this beautifully restored Vic- torian as a refuge from the outside world. Inside, you will feel pam- pered, as the atmosphere is relaxed yet elegant, cozy and never rushed. What is an afternoon of tea and wonderful lunch without a little shopping? Behind the tea house is The Carriage House Boutique, also renovated by Fred Ferrari and is filled with many fun gifts in addition to 120 loose-leaf teas. You can find children’s tea sets, hats, scarves and much more. Teaberry’s can accom- modate parties up to 35 people and does children’s birthday theme par- ties. There is so much attention to detail, which includes fresh flowers on the tables daily, beautifully orchestrated linens and china throughout the house, which is truly a feast for the eyes. Teaberry’s is not just for the ladies as many gentlemen appreciate the solitude of a relaxing business lunch as a break from their busy day. Teaberry’s pays attention to special dietary needs, offers three to four soups daily with their popular house lobster bisque. Lovely sand- wiches and salads in addition to baked goods (all done on premise) are served. All ingredients are always fresh and seasonal. Serving Lunch and Afternoon Tea. Hours are: Tuesday-Friday, 11-4, Saturday and Sunday 11-5, closed Monday. Reser- vations are strongly suggested. Teaberry’s Tea Room, 2 Main Street, Flemington, NJ, 908-788-1010.
