As TRU Thai’s culinary backbone and leading innovator in the kitchen, Executive Chef Chai Suri- narin hails from Bangkok, Thailand and cooks with imagination. Chef Chai’s professional experience began when he was twenty one. He worked in various kitchens to pursue his passion, passed down from his father, for the art of cooking. “His great influence in the kitchen while growing up showed me that food is more than just something you con- sume,” said Chef Chai. “You’re able to be expressive, give people something they will enjoy, and keep them coming back for more.” Located at 41 Mountain Boulevard in Warren, TRU Thai will feed your craving for rich, exotic cuisine. Every dish is cooked with love, fearless flavor and from scratch – making everything on the menu customizable. “My favorite type of food to cook is definitely Thai. To me, Thai food is so ver- satile and most enjoyable. I love to take a traditional dish that can be found at any Thai restaurant and add my own twist to it,” said Chef Chai who uses Japanese, French and American influence to create his menu. When you walk into the restaurant you are greeted by vibrant walls and crys- tal chandeliers hanging from brass, tiled ceilings. The tables are arranged to give each dining group their personal space. At night, every table is adorned with fresh flowers and candles that create a warm ambience of fine dining. During the day, the restaurant glows with ample natural light. “This is my favorite restaurant in War- ren. The food and service are excellent. Although I always order my food mild, I’m always amazed that they can make it with so much flavor without the heat,” said a frequent patron who appreciates being able to dictate his food’s spice level (offered on a scale from one to five). Cozied up in The Village Square, TRU Thai is recently under new management. Owner Claudia, with background in finance and consulting, switched gears in order to pursue her passion of having her own business. “When the restaurant was up for sale, I knew that I wanted to buy it. I’ve always loved eating here, and so do our patrons,” said Claudia. “One gentleman comes every afternoon for lunch and orders something different every day. I asked him which item is his favorite. He told me he likes all dishes on the menu otherwise he wouldn’t come every day,” said Claudia. There are numerous health benefits of eating Thai food, and its satisfying blend of flavors may even help you shed a few pounds. Most Thai delicacies are healthy and naturally low in fat and calories. Lunch at TRU Thai is very popular. Lunch specials include free soup or salad, and many meals are served with compli- mentary spring rolls. The Thai eatery also offers vegetarian options that are equally as palatable for non-carnivorous diners. A fan favorite off the dinner specials menu is the Fried Kuruma Shrimp. With Japanese influence, the shrimp is wrapped in sea weed, fried to crispy per- fection and topped with mango puree. Besides the classic favorites, Pad Thai, Kra Pao, Kee Mao and See Ew, new din- ner specials including Crab Avocado Spring Rolls, Miso Glazed Chilean Sea Bass, Seared Duck Breast – new favorites of the chef. Private parties and catering services are available. Stumped when purchasing a gift for a loved one? Gift certificates are available, and nothing says “I love you” like a meal made with love.
