Join Jewish Family Service of Somer-
set, Hunterdon and Warren Counties in
supporting GivingTuesday. GivingTues-
day is a global day of giving fueled by
the power of social media and collabo-
ration. Celebrated on the Tuesday fol-
lowing Thanksgiving and the widely
recognized shopping events Black Fri-
day and Cyber Monday, GivingTuesday
kicks off the charitable season, when
many focus on their holiday and end-
of-year giving.
One of the best ways to get involved is
in your own community. This Novem-
ber 29th, join the movement and give –
whether it’s some of your time, a dona-
tion, gift or the power of your voice in
your local community. It’s a simple
idea. Whether you come together with
your family, your community, your
company or your organization, find a
way to give back.
It’s also never too early to talk to your
kids about philanthropy. Here’s some
ideas for how you can get your family
involved in GivingTuesday:
• Ask your children to select a toy or
gift to donate to charity to give to
children in need.
• Volunteer with your teens in the local
community.
• Work together to brainstorm ideas
for how your family can help others.
• Hold a neighborhood yard or bake
sale and donate proceeds to an organ-
ization of your choice on Giving
Tuesday.
• Help your kids collect spare change
or donate part of their allowance to a
charity fund once per week. Work
with them on researching causes and
charities and select a nonprofit to
donate the funds to at the end of the
month.
• Ask your kids what they are thankful
for and encourage them to say thank
you by doing something kind for
others.
• Make a family challenge to have each
family member do at least one act of
kindness per day. Help with your sib-
lings’ chores. Open the door for a
neighbor.
Do one small act a day to make a
difference.
JFS is committed to serving the needs
of the entire community and offers a
continuum of programs and services.
Licensed clinical social workers provide
individual, couple and family counsel-
ing as well as geriatric assessments, sup-
portive counseling and case manage-
ment services for home bound elderly.
The Family Mentor Program recruits,
trains and matches volunteers with vul-
nerable young families or with elderly
persons for friendly, supportive, in-
home visits; Families with children
with special needs are assisted through
social groups, parent groups and
through the Family Mentor Program.
Career Counseling helps individuals in
many aspects of their job search. Ohr
Tikvah-Light of Hope Jewish Healing
Services offers presentations, support
groups, and individual spiritual coun-
seling to address the health, wellness
and healing needs of the community.
All information is confidential. Many
programs are at no cost, on a sliding fee
scale or payable through third party
insurance.
