In addition we feature Explore Downtown Somerville and hope to continue this section as we see the town evolving with new businesses every day! Plus a Spotlight on Hillsborough and the Community Calendar which gives our readers club meetings, library programs and more! Featured from our business/professional commu- nity this issue are: Branchburg Oral Surgery, Café Venezia, Performance in Technique, Raritan Music Center and TJC Far Hills. Our talented writ- ers have given us unique insight into these busi- nesses and their respective owners. Local artist, Joel Popadics, adorns our front cover with a watercolor on paper entitled, “In the Cra- dle.” Joel has been enthralled with the sea, boats and maritime subjects ever since a trip to Acadia Na- tional Park in Mount Desert Island, Maine in 1991. Always inspired by light, fog and mood of weather, the artist can be seen working at his easel along the Northeast coast. Joel reflects, “ ’In the Cradle’ was painted in a “pure” manner (without the use of white paint) and was painted en plein air (on location directly from life) at a Boatyard in Rockland, Maine. I was inspired by the early morning light bathing the schooner and the old wooden apparatus that sup- ported the boat, which was up for repairs.” Please read Joel’s impressive bio on page 8. Look for our FUN contest in this issue: SPOT THE FAKE! Somewhere in this issue is a fake ad. Find it and email us at Spotthefake@theconnectionsnj.com.
