Welcome to the summer issue of The Bridgewater- Somerville Connection! We have a wonderful issue filled with new and returning advertis- ers, great editorial content and important community news items. This issue our special sections include: Sum- mer Programs, featuring many activities and camps to keep the kids busy this summer, Home & Design, which highlights everything home related, Dining Out with some great new restaurants and outdoor patio options, Health & Wellness to keep us bal- anced and happy this summer season. We have a Shop Somerville section featuring businesses and professionals in this vibrant town. Also our Spot- light on Seniors includes a heartfelt column by Ellyn Mantell and of course our Community Calendar in- troduces the new summer programs, clubs and activities. We hope you keep this magazine in your home all summer as a valuable source for all your local needs! Featured from our Business/Professional Commu- nity this issue are: All American Assisted Living, Country Classics, Inc., Chicken Holiday, Duck Donuts, Oasis Senior Advisors, Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Jing Acupuncture Service and Roman Jewelers. Our talented writers have given us unique insight into these businesses and their re- spective owners. Local artist, Ann Williams, adorns our front cover with a gouache on paper piece entitled, “Winter Tulips.” Ann is a “naturalist” painter and printmaker living in Mendham so she could have some quiet and a garden in which to paint. Regarding this cover painting she states, “I was living in Brooklyn to help take care of one of my grandkids while my daughter was working and pregnant. I was longing for spring and bought a bunch of tulips at the street market every week and painted them. Then I got the idea to arrange them as one large composition, grouping them by “value” or lightness or darkness of the color. My friend and former teacher, Fred Horowitz, photographed them in the exhibition for me.“ Please read Ann’s impressive bio on page 8. Look for our FUN contest in this issue: SPOT THE FAKE!
