Wyder, G.M. Mediterranean Tile Time flies when you’re having fun! When Medtile owners Frank Matarazzo and Maria Cappello decided to open a second location in 2006 the big question was…where? We knew that we wanted to expand our business to the southwest so we took a drive out Rt. 287 South to Exit 30B and drove through the center of Bernardsville. The problem was that there was little available on our first pass through town. I left a voice mail for a local real estate agent – his sign in a very small space avail- able for rent. I received a return call moments later, described our busi- ness in very general terms, and he said “come to 7 Olcott Square, I have your new location.” Sure enough he was correct. We signed the lease and began construction on what you know now to be Mediterranean Tile Bernardsville. On June 9, 2007 we opened for business! Opening a new business literally months before the start of the recession may have been deemed by some to be a mistake but little did we know how embracing and supportive the local people were of businesses in town. Today about 80% of our business comes from a 5-7 mile radius of the center of Bernardsville! Thank you to all of you who have been our loyal clients since day one and to those of you who have recently discovered our vast array of materials, our talented design staff, and merchandising that you just don’t see in highway and big box stores! Our Bernardsville location has gone through significant changes since 2007. We have seen design trends go from relatively traditional to a more clean line transitional look. We have seen color go from dark gold, green, and red to white and gray and now to splashes of brilliant color. Our display vignettes have transitioned from predomi- nantly stone tile and mosaics to cleaner limestones and porcelains intermingled with beautiful water jet cut stone, glass, and metal. Medtile was in on the ground floor of the onset of concrete tiles, displaying the unique, bold, color- ful, designs long before they were so prevalent on just about every DIY & Design social media site! Medtile clients have come to appreciate and expect cutting edge, state of the art materials, cre- ative merchandising, and superior design consultation and customer service. What they have found is that we deliver all of the above with pride and joy. It has been an honor to be of service to all of you for the past 10 years and we very much look forward to continuing to deliver extraordinary service into the future.
