Welcome to the Spring edition of The Bernards-Ridge Connection. We have a wonderful issue filled with new and returning advertisers, great articles and dedicated sections to make the magazine more focused and easier to read. This installment we present a fantastic Summer Programs Section filled with many options parents may want to explore to keep the kids busy this summer, Tie The Knot Section featuring specialties for your upcoming affair, our Spotlight on “Seniors” Section has some thought provoking articles and advertisers. We also have a great Home & Design Section, filled with exceptional local craftsmen, landscapers and all your needs around the house, Dining Out this issue is packed with eating venues and notable articles and the Health & Wellness Section is brimming with wonderful solutions, tips and hints for everything health related. In addition we are happy to present the Charming Chester Section, featuring the businesses in the town of Chester. The Women’s Association for Morristown Medical Center is proud to present the 18th Mansion in May Designer Showhouse and Gardens fundraiser at Alnwick Hall-The Abby in Morris Township NJ. The fundraiser will raise money for Nursing Innovation and Research and we are proud to present a wonderful section with some of the designers who will transform rooms at this beautiful venue. Also check out our Community Calendar for programs and local events you may want to participate in.We hope you keep this edition in your homes this spring as a resource for shopping, professional care, dining and more! Featured from our Business/Professional community this issue are: School of St. Elizabeth, Karen’s Dollhouse Shop, Living Plate, Miguel’s Fitness and Bistro seven three. Our talented writers have given us unique insight into these businesses and their respective owners. In addition we have some wonderful columns such as Ask The Designer, Big Apple Bites, Slice of Life, Real Estate Design Tips, Pets’ Health, Family Adventures and many more. Please enjoy these editorials, some written by local businesses. Local artist Lea Novak, adorns our front cover with an oil on gessoboard entitled, “Hat With Flowers.” Lea paints using a realistic but slightly impressionistic style so that people will recognize her subjects. She states about this piece, “I painted this in response to a challenge on wet canvas. Since I couldn’t find a good reference, I took my own hat, bought some Gerbera Daisies in a pot and cut the two I wanted to tuck into the hat band. Then I posed the hat over my deck, on this chair and that, with different backgrounds and this was my favorite.” Please read Lea’s impressive bio on page 8.
