NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The Sundance School, a premier private preschool and elementary school on Greenbrook Road in North Plainfield, NJ has a creative way of teaching letters and sounds to their Kindergarteners. Last week, at a mock wedding ceremony, the letters ‘Q’ and ‘U’ exchanged vows and made it official.
The Sundance School follows the “Letter of the Week” program and ‘Q’ was the featured letter last week. The Kindergarten teachers, Ms. Suzie, Ms. Colleen and Ms. Sarah taught them that the letter ‘Q’ has a special letter partner that she just can’t live without – the letter ‘U.’ They decided long ago that the best way to teach this valuable language arts lesson was to have a wedding for the two letters who are destined to be together forever, at least when spelling is concerned! The wedding of ‘Q’ and ‘U’ has become a longstanding tradition at the school.
“Our teachers are just incredible when it comes to creativity. They truly make learning a fun experience for the kids. I can guarantee that our Kindergarteners will never forget that ‘Q’ and ‘U’ go together,” said Kaysie Norman, Director of Marketing, Events and Public Relations at The Sundance School.
The 5 and 6 year old students came to school in high spirits with their fanciest wedding attire on. There was a bride, ‘Q’, in a white dress with a beautiful bouquet of roses. There was a groom, ‘U’, dressed in a smart suit and top hat. There was a flower girl and a ring bearer. The ceremony took place right in the classroom, which was converted into a shrine devoted to the “happy couple” – reminders of ‘Qu’ words everywhere as visual cues. The wedding ended with a celebratory reception fit for a “queen” that was anything but “quiet.”
The Sundance School is hosting an Open House for prospective families on Thursday, May 16th and Friday, May 17th from 10 am until 11:30 am. For more information on The Sundance School, the wedding and the Open House, please visit www.thesundanceschool.com or call the office at 908.561.5055.
