Angie Ng
When I was first asked to inter-
view Angie, owner of
YY Beauty
Salon
in Watchung, I thought:
“
Oh, great. Another nail salon, like
so many others in the area.” But I
could not have been more wrong!
Angie Yung Shaw Ng has been
in the beauty business for 28 years
(
although her beautiful skin would
never let you believe this!) She
owned her own business in Hong
Kong for 5 years before joining her
family here in the United States,
and opening “Skin Station” in Chi-
natown. After many years of com-
muting to NYC, young children in
tow, she decided to open her salon
in New Jersey 7 years ago.
What makes this salon so differ-
ent is its main focus, which is skin
care, massage and cellulite treat-
ments. Angie is one of very few
licensed permanent make up artists
here in New Jersey, specializing in
eyebrows, lip and eye liner. She
considers herself a very lucky
woman, to be able to practice her
“
art” not on a paper, but on faces
that everyone can see! Angie
worked with a well-respected plas-
tic surgeon at Overlook Hospital,
using her talents to “paint” areolas
on cosmetic breasts. As her busi-
ness here grew, she stopped doing
that but says the doctor is always
begging her to come back!
The goal at
YY Beauty Salon
is
to help clients look and feel
younger and healthier. Personal
interest is paid to each and every
one of Angie’s customers, and the
care she gives everyone is quite
apparent.
One of the newest, most revolu-
tionary treatments offered is called
an “Ice RF Bio-Lift.” To be sure I
truly understood what this was,
Angie was kind enough to offer me
this service so I could write about
it! This is not an easy task, as it was
not like anything I have tried
before! Using a combination of Ice
and Heat, and an instrument that
feels like a pulsing light, the Bio-Lift
is made to move collagen around
under your skin. The heat moves
the collagen, and the ice sets it in.
As we age, our faces get shallower,
and this is a non-surgical way to
have a fuller, healthier glow.
Angie recommends 5 treat-
ments. Results should last from one
to two years, depending on how
well you take care of your skin. For
me, it was an amazing experience,
and I will definitely go back for the
remaining 4!
Angie lives in Watchung with her
husband, Peter Ng, an acupunctur-
ist (who I was coincidentally recom-
mended to on the day I met
Angie!), and her 3 children who all
went to school in Watchung. Two
are now in college and one will be
graduating Watchung Hills this
June. She is on the board of the
American Academy of Micro Pig-
mentation, has a Board of Health
License for tattoo and permanent
make up and corrective cosmetics
in Hong Kong, NY and NJ, and is a
member of the International Con-
gress of Aesthetics. In her “spare
time,” Angie is a volunteer for the
American Cancer Society.
YY Beauty Salon
is open 7 days
a week, from 8:30am-8pm on
weekdays and 8:30 am-6pm on
weekends. It is a family business,
and Angie’s daughters, sisters and
brothers are all involved. Their
newest salon just opened on Tenth
Avenue in NYC. In Angie’s words:

This is my love, my life.“ That
