Shirley Perlinsky, Owner of S & G
Cleaning Services Corporation in
Hillsborough, has been involved in
the cleaning business her entire life.
Initially inspired by her grandmother
while growing up in a modest neigh-
borhood in Brazil, her grandmother
taught her that while they did not
have the largest home, they most
certainly had the cleanest. Her
grandmother taught her how to
clean, and introduced her to the per-
sonal reward and satisfaction of hav-
ing a sparkling home. After Shirley’s
family moved to the U.S. in 1985,
her mother ran a house cleaning
business in North Jersey for many
years. When her mother retired,
Shirley assumed ownership of the
business, and had the mindset from
the very beginning to turn it into a
corporation. Shirley utilized her col-
lege background in marketing, and
ten years of professional experience
in running a marketing research
company to create a successful
cleaning operation that continues to
grow.
“We are so proud of what we
have created,” said Shirley, who is
partnered with her husband, Gary.
“We’re not just a cleaning lady – we
are very different.” S & G offers their

company carries workers compensa-
tion and liability insurance. Her
employees are equipped with GPS
tracking devices, and her office is run
by a unique software program that
tracks the specific needs of her
clients from the very first phone call.
In addition to residential cleaning,

“Our employees are wonderful
and cleaning is their passion,” said
Shirley. “You can’t effectively clean
three homes in a day and not love
it!” All of Shirley’s employees are
thoroughly screened, trained and
provided with a uniform. They
receive special bonuses for providing
exceptional service. Working at S & G
isn’t about just coming to work. It’s
about building relationships with
each other and their clients. Just
recently, Shirley treated all of her
employees and their families to a trip
at a water park, as it is part of her
business philosophy that team build-
ing is very important.
Also important to Shirley is giving
back to the local community. S & G is
a member of Cleaning for a Reason,
a foundation that provides cleaning
services at no cost to women under-
going treatment for cancer (go to

more information). In addition, S & G
is a member of Cleaning for Heroes,
an organization that honors disabled
veterans by providing complimentary
cleaning services. In addition, S & G
regularly extends a 15% discount to
senior citizens and is involved with
Habitat for Humanity.
