Raymond Passacantando, a con-
tributing author to the late Tim
Russert’s book, Wisdom of Our
Fathers, Lessons and Letters from
Daughters and Sons, will participate in
the Local Self-Published
Author Fair on Saturday,
November 3rd from 2:00 to
4:00pm at the Bernardsville
Public Library. The event
will take place at the library
and will be co-hosted by The
Bookworm of Bernardsville.
This is an opportunity for
local authors to promote
their self-published work and connect
with new and established fans.
Mr. Passacantando, resident of Morris
County for over 50 years, will present
his newly published book, Kizzy,
Whose Memoir is this Anyway? This
touching memoir is told from the
exceptional point of view of a black
Labrador retriever who recounts some
of the most endearing moments of her
time spent with the Ps, a family of five
living in Northern New Jersey.
With a balance of tenderness
and humor, the story evolves
from the first moment Kizzy
meets her family and cap-
tures the essence of a life-
time of togetherness and
friendship. With a heartfelt
ending, the reader will be
left with feelings of joy and
sadness, love and loss, peace
and gratitude all in one. This tender
story will win the hearts of all ages
and remind us of what is most impor-
tant in life.
What do you hope your readers
will get from the story? I think it’s
universal that most people love dogs
and in writing this book, I had hoped
that in telling this story, I would
touch a heart or two.
How did you come up with the
point of view of Kizzy? I just put
myself in her skin and tried to get a
sense of what life was like from her
vantage point.
Kizzy passed away
over 20 years ago.
Was it difficult to
remember? Not at
all. She lives on in
my mind and in my
heart.
Can you tell us
about the artwork
on the cover? The
original painting was
done in pastel by my
wife Marie. She cap-
tured the face so irresistibly that there
was no question that it be the book
cover.
Do you have any other works in
progress? I have a book of short sto-
ries completed as well as a collection
of 50 essays previously published in
Renaissance Magazine, and an illus-
trated manuscript titled, Memories
and Manny. I’m always
dabbling in playwriting.
