Choice Dermatology is owned and founded by
Marc Meulener, a board certified dermatologist with
specialty training in dermatopathology. Dr.Meulener
finished both an M.D. and a Ph.D. from the University
of Pennsylvania, completed a dermatology residency
at Columbia Presbyterian and St. Luke's.

Basking Ridge.
Choice Dermatology focuses on
providing quality medical, cosmetic
and surgical dermatology where wait
t imes are minimal, if at all existent,
and patients spend their entire visits
with owner Dr. Marc Meulener, a
board certified dermatologist, rather
t han a team of physician assistants.
In an age where medical offices
are often stretched to capacity, few
doctors take the time to walk
patients through every step of the
process, from initial assessment to
f ollow-up and thorough discussion
of treatment options. At Choice
Dermatology, that’s the standard.
Dr. Meulener also recognizes that
a patient’s time is equally as impor-
t ant as a doctor’s time and deems
30-minute or hour-long waits before
appointments “unacceptable.” That
f urther differentiates Choice Der-
matology as a practice that meets
t he high standards local residents
expect of their dermatologic provider,
he explains.
“We hope to go against the grain
and try to do things the right way,”
he says. “Our practice offers a supe-
r ior patient experience, one where
t he patient truly comes first.”
Dr. Meulener is trained in der-
matopathology, which means not
only can he interpret skin biopsies in-
house for faster results, but he can
provide more informed care. Most
practices send samples to outside
specialists who lack detailed knowl-
edge of patient history as well as clin-
ical experience with the sample as it
originally presented. Dr. Meulener
has both.
Anyone in the community can be
a potential patient, he says. Dr. Meu-
lener has extensive experience treat-
ing a variety of populations, from
pediatric patients who suffer from
common ailments like eczema and
acne to senior patients to anyone
seeking preventative care. Even if
there is no current presenting prob-
lem, Dr. Meulener urges patients to
get full skin examinations annually or
more frequently if skin cancer is in
the personal or family history.
Patients seeking cosmetic treat-
ment can also count on Dr. Meulener,
who is experienced in BOTOX injec-
tions, fillers for deep wrinkles/lines
and chemical peels for rejuvenation.
Dr. Meulener holds both an MD
and a PhD from The University of
Pennsylvania and completed his resi-
dency training at Columbia Presbyte-
rian and St. Luke’s Roosevelt hospi-
tals in Manhattan. He practiced in
New York City prior to moving to the
Basking Ridge/Bernardsville area and
received his training in derma-
topathology from the Albert Einstein
College of Medicine.
