It is with a sigh of relief that
we are able to bring you this
beautiful Holiday issue of The
Bernards-Ridge Connection.
The loss of power, internet and
phone service to our office and homes due to
Hurricane Sandy had a big impact on produc-
tion causing our schedule to be adjusted. We
are very grateful to be safe and send our heart-
felt wishes to all that suffered losses and en-
dured hardship.
Some of the local townships have instituted
a reverse 911 emergency call system where the
police departments are able to update residents
and businesses via cell phone. This has been ex-
tremely helpful to many communities this year.
Check with your local municipalities to inquire
if the program is available in your area, as it is
such a great help navigating the power outages.
Hopefully the worst is behind us and we look
forward to a mild and joyous Holiday Season!
Cover artist, Maryanne Montone Tursi, has
embraced art her entire life. As you can tell from
this beautiful oil on canvas entititled, “A Simple
Arrangement,” she has a passion for nature.
This painting according to Maryanne, “has an
ephemeral, dream like quality portraying the
beauty of the roses accompanied by a touch of
melancholy for their fleeting presence.” It
demonstrates her uses of soft focus on all but
the largest rose and the highlight on the pitcher
making use of warm and cool light. Please read
