th Annual Chili Cook-Off is at a
full boil! This annual fundraising
event, supporting the students of
The Somerset Hills School District
(
SHSD) is THE social event in the
Somerset Hills. This year’s Chili
Cook-Off will be held on March 23,
2013
at a new location at the stun-
ning Tranquillity Farm located in
Chester, NJ.
Join us as we celebrate the Chili
Cook-Off ’s 10th anniversary with
chili tastings by over 20 chefs from
local restaurants, caterers, businesses,
organizations and individuals who
compete to capture the coveted “Best
Chili in the Somerset Hills” award.
Guests can also expect great music
and dancing, western entertainment
and a unique silent auction.
The Chili Cook-Off is the primary
fundraiser for SHEF – a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization founded in
1996
whose mission is to provide
educational opportunities through
the funding of innovative programs
for SHSD students who hail from
Bernardsville, Bedminster, Far
Hills, Peapack and Gladstone.
Since its inception, SHEF has pro-
vided approximately $838,000 in
donations to all the schools in the
Somerset Hills School district.
These donations have funded
teacher initiated grants that have
gone directly to fostering creativity
and promoting excellence in the
classrooms. In addition, SHEF has
funded major initiatives in technol-
ogy including implementation of
district-wide wireless capability.
Last year SHEF funded three major
initiatives:
•
The Columbia University Read-
ers-Writers Project, a nationally
recognized literacy partnership.
•
The College and Career Counsel-
ing Center at Bernards High
School, which included the hir-
ing of an experienced College
admissions Counselor.
•
The Virtual Academy at Bernards
High School, which enables the
district to offer unique and inno-
vative electives.
Save the date for the
10
Annual Chili Cook-Off
on March 23, 2013.
For business owners in the commu-
nity, there are numerous sponsorship
and advertising opportunities. The
invitations are mailed to over 2500
residents and approximately 700
people attend. This is a great oppor-
tunity to promote your business.
In addition, Chefs from the com-
munity are welcome to participate
in the Chili Tasting competition.
Please mark your calendars - this is
an event you won’t want to miss!
