“
EMPOWERING CHILDREN TO
REACH THEIR POTENTIAL”
is what
The
Tutoring Center
of Basking Ridge is
all about. Once you meet the bright
and cheerful, Purvi Patel, Center Direc-
tor, you will immediately understand
her passion for education and the
learning process. Purvi holds a B.S. in
Microbiology and a Masters in Health
Care Administration. She worked in
the pharmacutical field for many years
and left her job as a technical writer to
promote education and help maximize
the potential of children’s learning.
Purvi's husband, Mitul, has a degree
in Engineering from N.J.I.T. and an
MBA from Rutgers. Mitul has been a
strong support to Purvi and is always
available to assist with tutoring when
needed. Together, this well rounded
and educated couple have two chil-
dren ages two and four; their four year
old son will be joining the Kinder-
garten program next year.
When entering
The Tutoring Cen-
ter,
the excitement begins when you
see the beautiful bright colors, cleanli-
ness, complete overall organization and
the clutter free environment. This is a
place where children are excited about
learning and having FUN while doing it.
Purvi views their goal as bringing a child
up to where they should be academi-
cally and then advancing them six
months to a year ahead of grade level.
What sets
The Tutoring Center
apart from other centers is the “Rota-
tional Approach to Learning” com-
bined with One-to-One Instruction
developed by Dr. Thalheimer, Founder
and President.
The Tutoring Center
has a clear mission per Dr. Thalheimer.
1.
First, your child
will
develop
stronger academic skills in reading,
math and writing.
2.
Second, your child
will
develop bet-
ter concentration, focus, and atten-
tion span.
3.
Third, your child
will
gain more con-
fidence and motivation.
4.
Fourth, your child
will
develop
stronger Test-Taking and Study Skills.
Purvi describes her staff as having the
same passion she does for education
and will not hire anyone that does not
share the same philosophy. Her instruc-
tors must complete an intensive Certifi-
cation Program and have a very high
level of knowledge in all areas. The
instructors range from college interns to
people with high level degrees.
The Tutoring Center
has a 95%
success rate with improvement of a
minimum of one full grade level for
every 40 sessions, or 40 hours of
instruction. This is based on standard-
ized testing results (KTEA). Some of the
Academic Programs offered are: “Little
Geniuses in Training” - Kindergarten;
Reading (grades K-3); Reading (grades
4-12),
Writing; Math (grades K-8);
Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra II; and
Academic Honors Program (Enrich-
ment). The slogan for the center is
“
REACH FOR THE STARS.”
Purvi’s overall goal, besides scholas-
tic enrichment, is to make sure that the
proper relationships are formed
between tutor and child. Purvi prides
herself on customer service and
encourages feedback from her clients.
The Tutoring Center
offers One-To-
One Instruction, Free Diagnostic Assess-
ment, Family Rates and No Contracts.
The Tutoring Center
has been
welcomed with such popularity in
Basking Ridge and has received refer-
rals from teachers, doctors and of
course parents. New to the communi-
ty, Purvi is already a member of the
Bernards Chamber of Commerce and
has been involved with the Safe Trick
or Treat program and a Spelling Bee
contest. She looks forward to partici-
pating more in community events. Call
