UPTOWN
PET GROOMING
1987
Washington Valley Road
Martinsville
By: Tatiana Javier
For the dog-loving households
with canine extensions to the family,
Uptown Pet Grooming
is the home
away from home your pet will quick-
ly gravitate towards. With a long-
standing relationship of ten years
and counting with surrounding com-
munities, the personalized grooming
boutique prides itself on attending to
the specific needs of each tail-wag-
ging tyke that walks in.
Conveniently located at 1987
Washington Valley Road in Mar-
tinsville,
Uptown Pet Grooming
is
committed to making each grooming
experience a great one. The upbeat
moxie shared between owner/prima-
ry groomer Christine and the canine
clientele is unparalleled. “My energy
reflects on them,” says Christine
regarding the sprightly bond she
shares with every pooch.
“
I have a one year old feisty West
Highland Terrier named Ozzie.
Nobody has been able to groom him
successfully but Christine. Her tech-
nique for easing him into haircuts
really worked out, and he actually
likes going for his cuts and sham-
poos. I highly recommend,” a repeat
customer raves.
Formerly part of corporate Ameri-
ca, Christine began pursuing her pas-
sion when she started grooming and
a year later began working at
Uptown Pet Grooming
in 2003,
taking over as owner in 2010. Now
as a member of the National Dog
Groomer Association and owner of a
rescued Border Collie-Labrador
hybrid, Christine is devoted to her
trade and caring for animals as if
they were her own.
The pup salon is home to a Hydro-
Surge power bathing system which is
extremely beneficial for larger dogs
with thick hair. The bathing system
helps combat dander and dry skin as
it cleanses the fur reaching the roots
and provides much needed moisture.
The shorter haired puppies get a
good, old-fashioned scrub down.
Regardless of method, Christine
uses an organic shampoo line that
provides nourishment to both hair
and skin. For the dogs with sensitive
skin types, oatmeal and hypoaller-
genic shampoos are used; for white-
coated tykes, organic whitening
shampoos are used. “They get what
they need without add-on costs,”
Christine explains of her individual-
oriented process.
Uptown Pet
Grooming
also uses a separate
cleanser that moisturizes and refresh-
es facial areas. Some additional serv-
ices include nail and ear clippings,
tooth brushing and pet sitting strictly
for clients.
Typically,
Uptown Pet Grooming
makes time to pamper between ten
and fifteen dogs per day. However,
as Mondays are the slowest days,
Christine dedicates this time for spe-
cial needs dogs that require undivid-
ed attention with as little traffic as
possible. This includes dogs battling
cancer and other illnesses as well as
anxiety-prone pups that fare much
better in a calmer environment. Dogs
that don’t fancy leaving the comfort
of their own home are also sched-
uled on lighter days.
The scheduling at
Uptown Pet
Grooming
is a godsend as Christine
works diligently to accommodate her
working customers’ schedules. In the
near future, Christine hopes to
expand in order to offer more servic-
es including a doggy daycare. For the
time being, the canine-centric estab-
lishment will continue providing high-
caliber services that meet the highest
of standards for man’s best friend. For
further inquiries please reach out to
Christine at (732) 271-8448.
