Mountain Fitness’ clients come from all stages of life from chil- dren involved in sports to adults get- ting in shape all the way thru seniors who want to improve their health and wellbeing. At Mountain Fit- ness you will find a community of like-minded people. Mountain Fitness has a variety of equipment available from cardio machines to resistance machines to free weights and much more. The availability of the various equipment allows you to constantly challenge your body. From ellipticals and tread mills, to recumbent and spin bikes, at Mountain Fitness you will be able to create a personal program that burns a ton of calories. At Mountain Fit- ness there is no waiting for the equip- ment. At Mountain Fitness there are resistance machines such as lat pull- down, leg press machine, leg exten- sion, leg curls, bench press and chest fly to name a few. These machines are great for everyone from beginner to advanced weight training. Mountain Fitness’ full line of strength training equipment includes kettle bells, medi- cine balls, a battle rope, resistance bands and free weights. At Mountain Fitness young ath- letes from 13 to 20 years old can improve their overall fitness in small group or individual training with the guidance of Malcolm who targets the skills that will improve overall fit- ness. Malcolm does not coach for the sport but rather focuses on the fit- ness that is needed for the athlete’s sport so that when the coach tells the athlete what to do, the athlete has the skill to complete the given task. Malcolm used his theory of overall fitness when coaching Power- lifter Hannah Colemen who took first place in her class in 2018 and with his own son and daughter who are successful national and international Taekwondo competitors. Adult options at Mountain Fit- ness include individual boxing instruction with a focus on tech- nique. Ed Halper continues to be involved in training adult running classes at Mountain Fitness. The run club participates in several com- munity events every year. Previous years have included such events as Profiles of Positive Aging and half marathons. This fall Mountain Fitness will be offering self-defense classes for women, on the weekends. Malcom will be utilizing Krav Maga, an Israeli system designed for every level of athletic ability. Krav Maga teaches real self-defense defending against common chokes, bearhugs, grabs as well as defense against weapons. Krav Maga not only teaches how to defend yourself it can help you get in the best shape, lose weight and build self-esteem.
