Somerset County businesses and residents are gearing
up for a celebratory fall season and an historic winter
sporting event. Fortunately, Somerset County’s 21 mu-
nicipalities have an ally for recognizing and leveraging
tourism efforts.
Salute to Tourism
Somerset County Tourism, the official Destination Mar-
keting Organization (DMO) for Somerset County, will
recognize the positive economic contributions of indi-
viduals and organizations through tourism activities at
its first annual Somerset County Salute to Tourism
Awards on November 7th. This breakfast event is the
key fundraiser for the 501(c)3 organization, Somerset
County Tourism, and will feature an engaging keynote
speaker, awards presentation, silent auction and net-
working opportunities.
Area residents are encouraged to nominate a deserving
individual or organization for one of five award cate-
gories at http://www.visitsomersetnj.org/awards through
October 18, 2013.
Elizabeth Becker, bestselling,
award-winning author and
journalist of
Overbooked: The
Exploding Business of Travel
and Tourism,
will keynote this exciting
event and hold a book signing to mark
the occasion.

Get in On the Big Game
The Big Game’s arrival in Northern New Jersey early
next year presents a fantastic economic opportunity for
Somerset County’s residents and businesses! Somerset
County Tourism has developed a marketing campaign
entitled “Super Somerset!” to help visitors plan and
enjoy their Big Game stay in Somerset County, and to
insure that area businesses successfully leverage this
mega event. TheBigGameNJ.com will provide informa-
tion on lodging, transportation, dining, events and
things to do in the County. The site will be accompanied
by informational signage, a pocket guide, a staffed in-
formation center and hotline, and a unique passport
program.
“
Passport to the Big Game” will provide even those of
us without a ticket to MetLife Stadium a chance to get
in on the fun. Between January 9 and February 1, 2014,
Somerset County Tourism will host “Passport to the Big
Game”, a countywide open house designed to bring
visitors and residents into local businesses for special
events, activities and offers. Pick up your passport book
at any participating location or the Somerset County
Visitor Center (360 Grove Street, Bridgewater) begin-
ning December 14th and be sure to get your book
stamped at each location. The more stamps you re-
ceive, the more chances you will have to win enticing
prizes!
According to Jacqueline Morales, Director of Somerset
County Tourism, “The Salute to Tourism Awards and
Passport to the Big Game programs present a unique
opportunity for both visitors and residents to experi-
ence and celebrate all that is Somerset County.” For

Somerset County Tourism, a 501(c)3 organization, is the
official Destination Marketing Organization for Somer-
set County and a Division of the Somerset County Busi-
ness Partnership. Its mission is to advance the local
economy by promoting the area’s outstanding travel
products and experiences and to offer a variety of useful
services to residents, business and leisure travelers.
