BRANDYWINE SENIOR LIVING AT MIDDLEBROOK CROSSING
2005
Route 22 West, Bridgewater
By: Jennifer Millman
Making the choice to move oneself or a
loved one into an assisted living facility can be
a difficult one, and finding the ideal commu-
nity – one you can trust to compassionately
and competently manage medical, physical
and emotional needs – intensifies the stress.
Fortunately for residents in the Bridgewater-
Somerville area, one of the region’s premier
assisted living communities is right in their
own backyard. Seniors enjoy a place that feels
like home, close to home, at
Brandywine
Senior Living at Middlebrook Crossing,
conveniently located on Route 22.
At
Brandywine Senior Living,
residents
interact with engaged staff committed to
helping them live vibrant, purposeful lives in a
refined, safe atmosphere that inspires well-
ness and has all the comforts of home.
Licensed nurses are available on-site 24 hours
a day, seven days a week - not “on call” - so
there is never a concern or doubt about
where to turn for care.
Brandywine Senior Living Middlebrook
Crossing
is one of 25 assisted living commu-
nities
Brandywine
operates in five states
throughout the East Coast. It features luxury
assisted living suites, each of which is
equipped with a safety and emergency
response system and is available at a rate
depending on residents’ individual needs.
“
We offer elegant senior living in a home-
like environment,” says Nancye Snyder,
Executive Director,
Brandywine Senior Living
at Middlebrook Crossing. Brandywine
takes
a family-oriented approach to both wellness
and therapy. A team of multidisciplinary pro-
fessionals provides individualized health and
wellness assessments to establish a coordinat-
ed approach to daily care for each resident,
whether it relates to health monitoring, pain
relief, education or medication administra-
tion. Physician services are coordinated on-
site, and residents receive free transportation
to doctor appointments within 20 miles.
“
Families benefit by knowing their loved
ones are safe and well cared for. The residents
benefit by having all of their healthcare needs
met, a feeling of being ‘at home’ and secure,”
says Snyder, a licensed nurse for nearly four
decades who has worked with seniors for 22
years.
Through its
Escapades for Life!
program,
Brandywine at Middlebrook Crossing
offers arts and crafts classes, karaoke nights,
senior exercise programs with certified fitness
instructors, cognitive-oriented video games
that promote physical fitness (Wii), cooking
classes, trivia nights, tailgating parties for
sporting events, card tournaments and other
entertainment designed to stimulate the
mind, body and encourage residents to “soak
up life.” Each day is a new opportunity for
learning, discovery, and fun at
Brandywine.
Each day, as
Brandywine
believes, “life is
beautiful.”
Some amenities include a billiards room,
wellness center, bistro with beverages and
snacks available 24/7, email and Internet
access to stay connected to family and
friends, fully stocked library, full-service beau-
ty salon and barber shop, weekly housekeep-
ing, including linen and towel services, basic
cable, greenhouse, fitness center, outdoor
courtyard and more.
Residents with memory impairments and
their families benefit from
Brandywine’s
award-winning
Reflections
program, a rela-
tionship-based approach designed to high-
light residents’ strengths and abilities, not
weaknesses. The program, implemented by
specially trained staff, focuses on multi-senso-
ry experiences and family therapy. Improved
cognitive abilities, increased self-confidence
and independence have been documented
among participants.
Through
Brandywine’s
“
Passport”
pro-
gram, residents recently discharged from hos-
pitals or rehabilitation facilities can take some
extra time to increase their physical endurance
and be in a safe environment. Genesis Rehab
Services is on site to provide additional thera-
py and Brandywine staff is available for any
physical support services. The experience,
even on a short-term basis, helps them
become stronger and better equipped to han-
dle going home. “That’s crucial in a time
where newer Medicare rulings often mean
premature discharges, which heighten the risk
for accidents and falls,” Snyder says.
