Calling All Knitters and Crocheters
By: Carolyn Hanson
In a recent class, one of my students mentioned that she was learning to knit not
so much for herself, but for others. I started thinking about charities’ knitting and
crochet opportunities. With the holidays quickly approaching, it seemed like the
perfect time to reach into our stash or visit our local shops to make a scarf, mit-
tens, or hat needed to bring a smile to a stranger.
There are many local charities that come to mind. Some are looking for finished
projects while others are seeking yarn and needles. (I could easily donate yarn and
still have more than I could ever use.)
Here are several charities that peaked my interest. There are many more. So get
the needles out, dive into your stash, get to work…and feel great knowing some-
one will gratefully accept your generosity.
