YOU’RE NOT IN
KANSAS ANYMORE
35
Perry Street
Chester
908-879-8007
Barbara & Frank Chupick
Have you ever been to Kansas?
Not that one, the one on Perry
Street in Chester. Just off Main
Street, follow the Yellow Brick Road
to the purple sign that says
“
You’re Not in Kansas Any-
more
...
Much Fabulousness.” You
will find something very unexpect-
ed. You will not find Dorothy’s red
shoes (or any shoes for that mat-
ter – sorry!) or any OZ memorabil-
ia. Prepare to be amazed. What
you will find is a specialty boutique
chock full of elegantly casual,
effortlessly stylish and crazily
affordable clothing, jewelry and
tons of accessories with just the
right amount of edge.
Working directly with premier
designers like:
•
Alexis Bittar from Brooklyn.
(
CFDA Accessory Designer of
the Year). We have the largest
collection in New Jersey.
•
Viviana Gabelras Petit Pois
(
Fashion Week-Best prêt-a-
porter designer), a Miami
based clothing designer.
Concentrating on “Made in
America,”
Kansas
has carried 100-
plus designers/vendors. Nothing is
ever ordered on line or from a cat-
alogue.
Kansas
says you need to
touch, feel, and try-on to get the
best possible fabrics, designs, col-
ors, workmanship and flattering
cuts for various body types. Their
customers are always asking‚
“
Where do I wear it? Does it make
me look slimmer? Will it pack
well?”
Barb (the beautiful, good-witch
of
‘
Kansas’
)
will style a ‘look’ for
you OR you can browse at your
leisure. We want you to have the
best possible service and a fun
experience.
Their customers, many who trav-
el quite a distance, are loyal and are
always anxious to see what’s new
and exciting. They keep their mer-
chandise current and fresh and
have special events when new col-
lections arrive, most notably Alexis
Bittar. An Otazu trunk show is
scheduled for the near future.
Kansas
carries an extensive col-
lection of gifts, from Sorrelli ear-
rings to Gina Panorffi hand-made
scarves and Mary Frances bags.
Everyone loves their packaging and
gift-wrap.
In order to stay current,
Kansas
makes frequent trips to the trade
shows in New York City. They have
shipments arriving weekly, to the
delight of their clients. They say
that they find the buying trips very
stimulating because there are
always new emerging designers to
meet, and new treasures to find.
“
Barb” and “Chup,” owners of
You’re Not in Kansas Anymore
for 13 years, continue to create a
“
buzz” in Chester. Barbara has a
very discriminating eye, having an
art background, and having taught
art, fashion, and interior design at a
high school level for 36 years. Bar-
bara and Chup, a high school and
college math teacher, do their best
to make your visit to
Kansas
fun.
Take a trip soon and see for your-
self what this wonderful couple has
created.
Kansas
is open Thursday
thru Sunday 11:00am-5:30pm.
By the way, they never did get a
permit to build a Yellow Brick Road.
