First, it was the COVID pandemic, which left many of us here at Bridgewater Overhead Doors unsure of what the future would be. I kept thinking, as I’m sure all small business own- ers felt, how would this affect our business? What if supply shortages resulted from this, causing prices to increase? How would we stay competitive & keep our competitive edge? As if the pandemic wasn’t enough, then Hurricane Ida destroyed many homes and businesses located in Central New Jer- sey in August 2021. We could have sat here & been down on our luck. However, we used this time as an opportunity to turn something very negative into a positive. We adapted to the changing economic times and overcame the difficul- ties. Prices did increase. Shortages did arise. However, it never stopped us from being the best we could be. Hurricane Ida prompted Bridgewater Overhead Doors to help fix businesses and homes. It also allowed us to expand our services to replace ALL types of doors. Pri- or to this, our specialty was primarily over- head doors and entry doors; now we have expanded to all types of doors - from slid- ing French doors, screened patio doors, to basement doors - any door you can think of. We are also adding window replacement as a service, as we feel doors & windows go hand in hand. The Company is set to again receive a top-ranking sales award at this year’s An- nual Clopay Dealer conference. Despite the pandemic’s initial setbacks which forced non-essential businesses to close their doors, Bridgewater Overhead Doors remained open, and sales increased YOY, as many homeowners used that time as a good op- portunity to make many home improvements. I am so proud of our team. I never once doubted the strength & tenacity of our team. Everyone showed up during that time. Every- one. Everyday. Everyone made the best of a very tough situation at hand. There is a lot to be said for a team that does this. It was certainly a very scary time to say the least. It could have been easy for any one of our employees to stay home because of fear, but no one did. This scenario reminded me of many times in years prior where we would have snow. Our team would show up on bikes if they had to. This displays the loyalty and strength of our team…we persevere in hard times & we are warriors. The family business was established in 1956 and is currently in the hands of third generation owners.
