While creating fine art is her focus at this time, she actually began her career in commercial art. After attending art school in New York City, Sandy worked as a graphic designer for children’s books. She loved the design aspect but was determined to make time to create her own original art. When she began oil painting she knew she had found her medium. It was a great way to create animal portraits and she began accepting commissions. She still paints pet portraits and many of them are in private art collections around the US. Landscapes and still lifes are also subject matter she enjoys working on. Sandy has exhibited her work in the New Jersey area and you can see more of her paintings on Instagram @sandyruda. She teaches oil painting classes and workshops at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in Summit, as well as colored pencil and pastel classes/workshops. All levels are welcome.
