theconnectionsnj.com HEALTH & WELLNESS PAGE 20 Dean’s Natural Food Market has always been committed to improving the lives of the community, whether in the form of pro- viding all organic produce, carrying a wide range of healthy food and product choices or, through community outreach. Dean’s partners with local organizations to build relationships, raise and donate money, and contribute to the betterment of the community. Dean’s has donated over $250,000 since opening in 1996 and that number is only growing! Dean’s is excited to announce that we will be dedicating each month of the year to a different cause and subsequently choosing more organizations to work with and give back to! This is an exciting time for us because making a difference is at the core of who we are as an organization. This will also enable us to contribute to more causes that are close to our hearts and clearly communicate to our custom- ers, the themes behind each month’s events. Below is the list of causes associated with each month. January – Food Bank February – Youth Programs March – Substance Abuse April – Environmental Awareness May – Mental Health June – Animal Shelter July – First Responders August – Wildlife Conservation September – Childhood Illness October – Family Wellness & Safety November – Military December – Neighbors in Need (spon- sor a family’s holidays) Dean’s has 4 stores located in Ocean, Shrewsbury, Basking Ridge and, Chester, NJ, meaning we work and live in multiple communities and want to contribute to the many great organizations that exist in those areas. If you are a member of or know of an organization or cause that you feel would be a good t, we would love to hear from you! Go to the “about tab” on Deansnatural- foodmarket.com and click the “In The Com- munity” tab. On this page you can down- load our donation request form and email it to community@dnfm.com. We have a variety of ways that we typ- ically donate to organizations but we can also get more creative when needed to best suit the needs of the organization and our team. We’ve worked with organizations such as, Kick Cancer Overboard, Big Broth- ers Big Sisters of Monmouth & Middlesex Counties, Monmouth County SPCA, Boys & Girls Club of Monmouth County, Hometown Heroes, NJ SEEDS, the Non-GMO Project, Platinum Minds, Restore the Shore, and many more. Just this March we were able to raise $10,000 for KYDS, a local organi- zation whose mission is to transform youth, schools, and communities through holistic practices. The recipient must be a 501(c)(3) non-prof- it organization and have their 501(c)(3) num- ber. Submitting your application at least eight weeks in advance from when you require the donation, will allow us enough time to plan, promote and execute any planned events. We try to honor as many requests as possi- ble, and in order to give back in a meaning- ful way, it’s only right we dedicate our time and efforts to best help any organization we commit to working with. Unfortunately, that means there may be organizations that are truly deserving, but may not be selected and for that reason, we ask that you submit your requests as soon as possible. We are so excit- ed to see the changes we can make when we work together!
