It all started for Dan in the Bronx – a sweltering five-story walk-up apartment, painting watercolors by the light of the open refrigerator, his parents asleep in the next room.
The Bronx Zoo and a later move to NJ, included woods, a river, birds, fish, and turtles and they all helped Dan formulate a solid interest in nature, landscape, and a desire to express it in art.
He wanted to be looking and interacting with nature, and sitting at an easel. These two interests made for a conflicting professional life, and it took quite a while to harmonize.

From high school to art school to university, Dan refined his skills, first becoming a scenic artist for the Rock & Roll industry, after some years working as a manufacturing manager (a blessing later).
In 1997 he joined the team at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as builder/sculptor/designer for nine parades and later as a designer and a muralist for Santaland at the Macy’s Herald Square store.
Now he is concentrating exclusively on his art, painting, drawing, along with hiking, biking and, bird watching.
