SUMMIT, NJ – Beginning on Monday, April 22 from 10:00 am to 11:15 am and running for eight weeks, SAGE Eldercare will host a series of classes entitled, “Gentle Yoga,”
especially for adults of all ages with Parkinson’s and movement disorders. The program will give those coping with Parkinson’s disease, both patients and caregivers, an opportunity to experiment, enjoy a sense of grace, and play with music and movement.
Studies have shown that gentle yoga and meditation may result in a visible reduction in tremors, improve steadiness of gait, mobility, flexibility and quality of life. Additionally, yoga and meditation may help alleviate depression, anxiety and fatigue, as well as increase energy, reduce stress and improve sleep for the participant.
Karen Rutberg, instructor for this course, is a registered yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance and has studied and practiced yoga for more than 20 years. Her training includes Integrated Movement Therapy at Kripalu, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction at Duke Integrative Medicine, ChildLight Yoga, and anatomy and physiology courses. Karen enjoys teaching yoga to students of all ages and abilities.
The classes will take place at SAGE Eldercare, 290 Broad Street in Summit. The eight-week session costs $96. Space is limited, so please contact Karen Rutberg at email@example.com or call 973.763.0564 to reserve your spot, ask questions, and obtain the registration form, which includes a physician’s permission waiver.
